Dear Sir or Madam,

Do you often wonder about how Open Data will be changing the way the Public Sector innovates and delivers services? If so, join us at Data Days 2014 – a three-day conference in Ghent – dedicated to Open Data and innovation.

The Open Knowledge Foundation (OKFN), the EU project Citadel on the Move and the Linked Organisation of Local Authority ICT Societies (LOLA) have great pleasure in inviting you to their joint conference which will be held from February 17 to February 19 in Ghent, Belgium.

Come together with Open Data pioneers, practitioners, thinkers and researchers from across the world to unlock and advance the power of collaboration and open innovation. Each partner invited a top of top speakers, as we travel from Open Belgium to Open Europe, before finally arriving at Open World.

Day 1: Open Belgium

Join the Open Knowledge Foundation Belgium (OKFN) on February 17. Open Belgium will host several keynote speeches on Open Data by policy makers in Flanders, Wallonia and the federal level. Break-out rooms will host various workshops on specific subjects such as Open Transport in Belgium, Open Street Map in Belgium, the use of creative commons licenses, and the Belgian datasets that are most wanted to be opened up next.

Day 2: Open Europe

Citadel on the move is presenting an open forum to policy makers and influencers. Citadel will facilitate discussions on the future of open data in Europe. Key topics will include interoperability of open data between European cities and regions, open data licensing and business models. During this day the finalists of the Citadel hackathon competition will be announced.

Day 3: Open World

the Linked Organisation of Local Authorities (LOLA) become the hosts discussing Open data as a global phenomenon. The true implications of Open Data only become apparent when looking across borders, across continents. Data Days provide a platform for experts and enthusiasts from all over the world to meet, share experiences and exchange strategies so that open data may shape the future for us all.

The interactive and varied conference program includes participatory workshops, breakout sessions and international keynote speakers. And we end with a real debate. Whether you are a policymaker, IT expert, student, app developer or just have a strong interest in Open Data, Data Days 2014 will stimulate your thinking, introduce you to like-minded folk and help give you an idea of what Open Data can do for you and your organization.

The conference will take place in the Bijloke in Ghent. For flexibility the modest conference fee is broken down by days. You can attend just one or two days, or take full advantage of the amazing value offered by the three day package.
